چکیده

Games with Finite Resources as defined by Gale (1957) are two-person zerosum N -stage games in which each player has N resources and may use each resource once and only once in the N stages. Gale’s theorem on these games is generalized in several directions. First the payoff is allowed to be any symmetric function of the stage payoffs. Second, the players are allowed some latitude in choosing which game is being played. Applications are given to some open questions in the area of Inspection Games. Finally the payoff is allowed to be random, thus incorporating a result of Ross (1972) on Goofspiel. Application is made to a game-theoretic version of the Generalized House Selling Problem.

Generalized Mean-payoff and Energy Games

In mean-payoff games, the objective of the protagonist is to ensure that the limit average of an infinite sequence of numeric weights is nonnegative. In energy games, the objective is to ensure that the running sum of weights is always nonnegative. Generalized mean-payoff and energy games replace individual weights by tuples, and the limit average (resp. running sum) of each coordinate must be ...

Repeated Play of Families of Games by Resource-Constrained Players

This paper studies a repeated play of a family of games by resource-constrained players. To economize on reasoning resources, the family of games is partitioned into subsets of games which players do not distinguish. An example is constructed to show that when games are played a finite number of times, partitioning of the game set according to a coarse exogenously given partition might introduc...

Games with Exhaustible Resources

We study N -player continuous-time Cournot games in an oligopoly where firms choose production quantities. These are nonzero-sum differential games, whose value functions may be characterized by systems of nonlinear Hamilton-Jacobi partial differential equations. When resources are in finite supply, such as oil, exhaustibility enters as boundary conditions for the PDEs. We analyze the problem w...

The Multiple Dimensions of Mean-Payoff Games

Outline We consider quantitative game models for the design of reactive systems working in resource-constrained environment. The game is played on a finite weighted graph where some resource (e.g., battery) can be consumed or recharged along the edges of the graph. In mean-payoff games, the resource usage is computed as the long-run average resource consumption. In energy games, the resource us...
